"Love etc." is a 2009 song by English electronic dance music band Pet Shop Boys. It was released March 16, 2009, on Parlophone Records. The single was also made available on the Canadian and American iTunes stores on that date, making it the first single released by the duo in the US, albeit as a digital download, since "Break 4 Love" in 2001.
It is the first single taken from their tenth studio album Yes, which was released on 20 March in Germany, on 23 March in the UK, and on 21 April in the US. The single was co-written by Pet Shop Boys with hit production team Xenomania, who also produced the track. Pet Shop Boys describe the single as "a post-lifestyle anthem which sounds like nothing we’ve done before."
This song was the Pet Shop Boys' ninth number-one on Hot Dance Club Songs. The pair thus overtook Depeche Mode to break the record for the most chart-toppers by duos or groups on the Billboard dance chart. [4]
The music video was directed by Dutch animator Han Hoogerbrugge. The website Stereogum describes it as a "horizontally scrolling animated video is part Sonic The Hedgehog (dated video game reference!) and part Pac Man (chomping down on hearts, shamrocks, and cash money), with a lineup of Chrisses, Neils, and others shouting, flexing, unmasking, and turning into draculas.
This song is featured on the British compilation album Now That's What I Call Music 72.
