&The Beautiful People& is a song by American rock band Marilyn Manson. It was released as the lead single from the band's second studio album, Antichrist Superstar (1996) in September 1996. An industrial metal song, it was written by Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez, and produced by Trent Reznor, Dave Ogilvie and Manson. Lyrically, it discusses what Manson refers to as &the culture of beauty&.

The single peaked at number 26 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and remains known as one of Marilyn Manson's most famous and most successful original songs; in a 2004 review, Richard Banks of the BBC called the track &still the most impressive& in the band's catalogue, and it was ranked in 2006 at number 28 on VH1's 40 Greatest Metal Songs. Marilyn Manson had a couple of strong moments on their debut album, Portrait of an American Family, but they had not delivered an indelible single until &The Beautiful People,& the first pulled from their second album, Antichrist Superstar. With its mock menace and pummeling metal triplets, it was the first Manson song with an oversized hook -- the kind of song that even the group's detractors couldn't get out of their heads. Also, since it had an actual swing (an alien concept in previous Manson recordings), it opened itself up to remixes. Unfortunately, Jim Thirlwell's mix, retitled &The Not So Beautiful People,& is simply predictable industrial noise, instead of a fusion of industrial and dance. That mix is one of four tracks on this second part of a two-part British single, along with the album version of &The Beautiful People& and two adequate B-sides, &Snake Eyes and Sissies& and &Deformography.&
