As the near-identical album art and layout imply, Imidiwan is cut from the same cloth as Aman Iman. That was the album where Tinariwen really pulled it all together in terms of harnessing their sound on record, and this album is more like another set of songs than a whole new defining statement. It doesn't sound at all like a rehash - even without a lyrics sheet, these songs are almost all distinctly individual - but in terms of overall mood, and the rhythmic textural style of the group's music, it's a similar deal. Which is to say it's great.
