“后摇（Post-Rock）是用摇滚乐器作非摇滚的用途，吉他对音色和结构的推动作用超过了Riff和主旋律。”后摇的关键问题除了电子的启用之外，还有多层次打击乐器的出现。“后摇就是70年代碰到了90年代”，有很多后摇乐队的作品有强烈的迷幻性和Space的性质。在描述实验性后摇时作者说，后摇在很多时候是柔和并且喜怒无常的，会多次走向焦虑和兴奋。
