最早的布鲁斯，现代音乐的起源，由美国南部的黑人男歌手从“田间呼喊”继承并发展而来，共有两个分支。代表人物有德克萨斯布鲁斯之父Lemon Jefferson、三角洲布鲁斯之父Charley Partton、主将Son House、还有融合继承了Charley Partton、Son House两位大师特色的Robert Johnson。这种音乐风格野性，嗓音高亢，演绎随性，随便即兴反复演唱和演奏，是最自由的音乐流派之一。
