泽维尔·多兰1989年生于加拿大魁北克，父亲是演员，12岁开始演戏。他出演过加拿大最大的制药公司Jean Coutu的广告，也是《哈里波特》的荣恩·卫斯理、《歌舞青春》的贾斯汀以及《暮色》的狼人乔科博在加拿大的法文配音者。2009年，不到20周岁的他自编自导自演了影片《我杀了我妈妈》入围戛纳电影节导演双周单元，并击败众多名导演佳摘下三项大奖。该片讲述的是同性恋男孩和他的母亲间的故事。多兰本人也是一位同志。

而他电影中所选配乐不仅贴合电影主题 静听之下更是惊艳。。。。。
