柏拉图说，对教育来说，音乐训练比其它任何方式都更具有潜力。对于儿童来说，听古典音乐最好是那些能够提高智力的音乐。小孩子听古典音乐的话找一些比较明快的，积极的，不要听太严肃的，也不要太早让小孩子听歌剧，小孩子很难听懂，而且容易使他们对古典音乐失去兴趣。可以让他们听一些摇篮曲、小夜曲、小步舞曲、圆舞曲等，宗教音乐也可以，因为听这些音乐能净化心灵，保持一颗纯真的心是很重要的，这需要不断熏陶。
