The Last Rose of Summer
The Last Rose of Summer Sir John Stevenson, 1761-1833 \\\'Tis the last rose of summer, Left blooming all alone, All her lovely companions Are faded and gone. No flower of her kindred, No rose bud is nigh, To reflect back her blushes, Or give sigh for sigh. So soon may I follow When friendships decay, And from love\\\'s shining circle The gems drop away! When true hearts lie withered And fond ones are flown Oh! who would inhabit This bleak world alone? I\\\'ll not leave thee, thou lone one, To pine on the stem; Since the lovely are sleeping, Go sleep thou with them; \\\'Thus kindly I scatter Thy leaves o\\\'er the bed Where thy mates of the garden Lie scentless and dead. So soon may I follow When friendships decay, And from love\\\'s shining circle The gems drop away! When true hearts lie withered And fond ones are flown Oh! who would inhabit This bleak world alone? |

Londonderry Air (Danny Boy)
Danny Boy Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer\\\'s gone, and all the flowers are dying \\\'Tis you, \\\'tis you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer\\\'s in the meadow Or when the valley\\\'s hushed and white with snow \\\'Tis I\\\'ll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so. And if you come, when all the flowers are dying And I am dead, as dead I well may be You\\\'ll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an \\\"Ave\\\" there for me. And I shall hear, tho\\\' soft you tread above me And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be If you\\\'ll not fail to tell me that you love me I\\\'ll simply sleep in peace until you come to me. I\\\'ll simply sleep in peace until you come to me. Londonderry Air Would God I were the tender apple blossom That floats and falls from off the twisted bough, To lie and faint within your silken bosom, Within your silken bosom as that does now! Or would I were a little burnish\\\'d apple For you to pluck me, gliding by so cold, While sun and shade your robe of lawn will dapple, Your robe of lawn, and your hair\\\'s spun gold. Yea, would to God I were among the roses That lean to kiss you as you float between, While on the lowest branch a bud uncloses, A bud uncloses, to touch you, queen. Nay, since you will not love, would I were growing, A happy daisy, in the garden path; That so your silver foot might press me going, Might press me going even unto death. The Gentle Harp My gentle harp, once more I waken The sweetness of thy slumb\\\'ring strain In tears our last farewell was taken And nos in tears we meet again. Yet even then, while peace was singing, Her halcyon song o\\\'er land and sea, Though joy and hope to others bringing, She only brought new tears to thee. Then who can ask for notes of pleasure, My drooping harp, from chords like thine? Alas, the lark\\\'s gay morning measure As ill would suit the swan\\\'s decline. Or how shall I, who love, who bless thee, Invoke thy breath for freedom\\\'s strains, When e\\\'en the wreaths in which I dress thee, Are sadly mixed, half flours, half chains. |

Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms/The Gentle Maiden
Believe Me, If All Those Endearing Young Charms Believe me, if all those endearing young charms Which I gaze on so fondly today Were to change by tomorrow and fleet in my arms 我这诚信真挚双眼依然凝住 Like fairy gifts fading away 要向你作无言倾诉 Thou wouldst still be adored as this moment thou art Let thy loveliness fade as it will 萦绕心头似春藤长绿 And around the dear ruin each wish of my heart Would entwine itself verdantly still 矢当初折盟永不辜负 It is not while beauty and youth are thine own 当你的青春美丽渐渐消除 And thy cheeks unprofaned by a tear That the fervor and faith of a soul can be known To which time will but make thee more dear No, the heart that has truly loved never forgets But as truly loves on to the close As the sunflower turns to her God when he sets The same look which she turned when he rose
