痛苦是人类情感的主基调。现实中的痛苦无处不在，有些痛苦是具体的，而更多的痛苦却隐含在人的身体深处，它与生俱来，几乎和生命朝夕相伴。

人类常常主动接近痛苦，因为人类存在同理心和想象力。

音乐创作是上天送给那些有音乐天赋的人的礼物，而亲近音乐，是每个感性的人送给自己的礼物。我们并不歌唱痛苦，因为那对于生活是不真诚的。金属沉溺于痛苦，又有满腔想脱离束缚的欲望。金属发源于痛苦又尝试寻找痛苦的根源。金属音乐作为一种艺术形式，基本的哲学路径是通过对痛苦的感知和辨认，然后拷问、理解、抒发、超越，和走向幸福。
