所谓”激流金属”，就是强烈的失真吉他配以极富攻击性的Riffs，联合冲击波似的鼓及主唱抽风似的演奏嗓音，形成的一种音乐流派。激流金属的速度极快，具有相当快速的反复节拍(riff)，电吉他粗麻的音色刷出剽悍的和弦，极具破坏力及压迫感的速踩双大鼓，主唱粗暴狂吼式的唱腔配合电吉他快速的节奏急速地唱出几无旋律的曲调。
