尼采由悲剧艺术引伸出来的悲剧世界观则是“肯定生命，连同它必然包含的痛苦和毁灭，与痛苦相嬉戏，从人生的悲剧性中获得审美快感”。尼采的悲剧理论是给悲剧和死亡赋予美的少数几种悲剧理论之一，它把悲剧看成是灿烂辉煌的，一种“形而上的安慰的艺术”。为了阐述“悲剧性”的实质，叔本华和尼采都转向了音乐。
