by Marisa BrownJazz combo Trio Beyond started in 2003 when drummer Jack DeJohnette decided that he wanted to pay tribute to fellow percussionist Tony Williams. Adding John Scofield on guitar and Larry Goldings on electric piano, Hammond B-3 organ and sampler, the group was officially formed and began booking and playing gigs. One of their concerts, given at Queen Elizabeth Hall at the 2004 London Jazz Festival, was recorded and released as their debut album, Saudades, in 2006.
