by Richie UnterbergerThe Cookin' with Kurt project was helmed by synthesizer player Kurt Stenzel, aka Stenzo. For the self-titled Cookin' with Kurt release on Innerspace in 2000, he was joined by Peter Fuhry (who founded the band Beyondomatic with Stenzo) on flute and clarinet, as well as Randy Burke on drums and Charles Davis. Cookin' with Kurt is occupied solely by two lengthy instrumental improvisations, mixing acid-jazz rhythms with elements of space rock, jazz-rock fusion, and electronica. According to the liner notes, the album is intended as "incidental music for around the house," providing background for cooking or baby-making.
