艺人介绍
Born from the ashes of the defunct EVER SINCE, XAON was brought to life by masterminds Vincent Zermatten (guitars) and Florian Jacot-Descombes (bass) in the midst of 2014.
Inspired by bands like ANATHEMA (and their whole period in the second half of the 90’), MY DYING BRIDE, EMPEROR, the mighty PARADISE LOST, TYPE O NEGATIVE, ULVER, SOILWORK, LIMBONIC ART, the two of them laid the base of what would later become the first EP, “Face of Balaam”, blending the aggressiveness of death metal with gothic undertones and layered with dark and eerie synthesizers and strings.
A year later, the pair found solace in finding Franco-American vocalist Rob Carson who laid vocals on the EP and quickly joined as a permanent member. “Face of Balaam” was released in October 2016 and featured renown vocalist Björn “Speed” Strid from SOILWORK as a guest on one track. The release was quickly followed by a European tour with gothic metal monsters SIRENIA and folk metal legends TYR.
The trio entered the studio at the dawn of 2017 with respected and talented french drummer Jordan Kiefer to record their first album. This new record takes the band’s sound to a whole new level. The album progresses from spectral ambiances to grandiose and intricate orchestrations, it evolves from oppressing aggressiveness to majestic lamentations. It is soberly entitled “The Drift”.
The album was recorded and mixed by Rob Carson at “Studio du Lac” in January/February 2017 and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima at “Tower Studio”. The album art was designed by Chris Kiesling from Misanthropic-Art.
