German artist and songwriter KAHLLA, aka Freya Volk, was born in Amsterdam and raised somewhere in the nomansland of South West Germany. Having outgrown her rural hometown, she up and left aged 18 and is now based in London. Armed with a diverse musical past she merges her classical upbringing with dreamy soundscapes, electronic drum grooves and layered vocals to create intimate and vulnerable pop songs that call to mind the likes of Maggie Rogers, Lapsley and IDER. At the heart of it all sits KAHLLA’s descriptive and ‘bare-all’ lyricism which will throw the listener head first into her world; each song like a little photo book consisting of memories passed.
