The band was originally known simply as 'Mortuary'. Its members were featured in a 1993 mini-ary about the Tampa metal scene called 'Thrash 'til Death'.

The Mortuary Society also released a song on the Nuclear Blast Records compilation CD "Grindcore" in 1993.
