by Richie UnterbergerNoah Georgeson is an important behind-the-scenes figure of early-21th century alt-folk, having produced Joanna Newsom's The Milk-Eyed Mender and Devendra Banhart's Cripple Crow. He also produced Mason Jennings' Boneclouds and British folk legend Bert Jansch's 2006 album, The Black Swan. A singer/songwriter himself, in 2006 he issued his debut album, Find Shelter. It mixed guitar-based folk with ornate arrangements, Georgeson singing his off-kilter songs in a dark, low, shaky voice.
