by Andy KellmanLast Dance were one of the many short-lived acts in the early 4AD stable. Their discography consisted of one lone song, the seven-minute "Malignant Love." A rambling form of doomy post-punk in the vein of Siouxsie and the Banshees, it was released on 4AD's Presage(s) compilation in 1980. The compilation featured Modern English and obscuros like Spasmodic Caress and Psychotik Tanks. When the label reissued Natures Mortes -- their previously Japanese-only sampler dating from 1981 -- they included some of the tracks from Presage(s), including the Last Dance entry. The band consisted of vocalist/keyboardist Soozy Bowler, bassist PPP, and guitarist Phil Roberts.
