One of the Windy City's hottest attractions during the early '90s, boasting the prolific songwriting skills of lead singer Ralph Covert and incendiary lead guitar from John Duich. Formed in 1987, the band issued a cassette, Meat: The Bad Examples, the next year. Covert's "Not Dead Yet," one of the group's most popular numbers, was covered by Styx on their Edge of the Century album. The Bad Examples' debut CD on the Water Dog label, Bad Is Beautiful, was released in 1991, and a live set followed one year later. Subsequent releases included 1995's Kisses 50¢ and the 1998 live album Two-Meter Sessions. Bassist Tom "Pickles" Piekarski formerly played with John Prine.
