by John BushBedsit trip-hop duo Monk & Canatella were formed by Simon Russell and Jim Johnston after each had long been involved in the Bristol community (scene-leaders Portishead even dedicated a song to them). They debuted on Cup of Tea Records with 1995s Fly Fishing EP, which gathered good reviews from the British music weeklies and radio DJs. The EP and its follow-up I Can Water My Plants were early investigations into the more domestic, indie-rock side of trip-hop. After getting an American release via Cup of Tea: A Compilation on Quango, Monk & Canatella released their debut album, Care in the Community.
