Eat Static为Merv Pepler和Joie Hinton，成立于1989年。Eat Static可以说是英国第一个现场表演Techno的团体，90年代出现在各大Rave派对。曾经和知名电子音乐艺人Carl Cox、Grooverider和Fabio同台，甚至被邀请到Tribal athering做live表演！有着无数次派对经历的Eat Static，快速的发展成惊人的现场表演，里面包括庞大的灯光群、一个巨大而且使用灯光打出来的大脑图，到邀请舞者一起表演。

Eat Static表演过数百场派对，不论是在英国、欧洲到最近和Mody还有BT一起巡回美国。参加过数次的The Eclipse (知名日蚀派对)，还有伦敦知名舞厅 – Eurobeat2000的开幕派对。也在英国享誉盛名的Glastonbury和荷兰Dance Valley派对表演过。

1991年，Eat Static在自己的厂牌Alien Records下发行三张单曲和一张卡带专辑 – Prepare Your Spirit。两年后，Eat Static与厂牌Planet Dog签约，同年底发行单曲 – Lost In Time。而Lost In Time被英国Melody Maker杂志选为Single of the Week (单周金曲)，也在知名NME杂志的读者票选为最佳电子舞曲表演团体。

在1994年发行第二张专辑 – Implant后，Eat Static被邀请到各大派对，而越来越多人注意到Eat Static这个团体。1995年Eat Static发行单曲 – The Epsylon后，立即被邀请到Phoenix和Glastonbury两个英国户外大节日。1996年发行的单曲 – Bony Incus同时打进英国单曲和专辑排行榜。

Eat Static发行的单曲Hybrid，也在1997年后相继的被知名DJ像是PFM、Dave Angel、The Infinity Project和Yum Yum拿来做混音。而Hybrid以小小的差距60张的销售量即可打进英国单曲排行榜40名以内。在巡回美国及几场夏日派对后，Eat Static发行单曲Interceptor，而Interceptor也被拿来作为电玩Conquest Earth的原声带。1997年底发行第三张专辑 - Science of the Gods。

1998年，Eat Static成立了新的厂牌MESMOBEAT，发行专辑 - Alien EP’s。紧跟着在Alien EP’s后，为了庆祝Eat Static成立十年，Eat Static又发行新专辑 – Decadance，里头有9首未曾发行过的单曲。同时，应歌迷的要求，Eat Static重新以卡带的方式，发行第一张专辑 Prepare Your Spirit。

经过两年录音间的努力后，2000年五月他们发行新专辑Crash and Burn，与以往不同的风格外，这也是首次Eat Static在录音间制作的专辑。除了使用更多现场乐器外，也和Propellerheads和Tangerine Dream合作。2001年发行他们第九张的专辑 - In the Nude!，之后Eat Static与Orbital的DJ – Paul Hartnoll和Dave Angel一起巡回英国表演。同年年底，Merv专心在其它的团体像是Hi-Fi Companions创作。Hi-Fi Companions的两张专辑和数首单曲分别在加拿大厂牌Interchill和以色列厂牌BNE发行。2002年，Merv在世界各地巡回放歌，Eat Static也和厂牌BNE和TIP等合作。

A techno-based, UFO-obsessed side project of Ozric Tentacles Merv Pepler (keyboards, drum patterns, samplers) and Joie Hinton (keyboards, samplers) along with synth player Steve Everitt, Eat Static formed in Frome, England in 1989. After making their initial appearances performing before and after Ozric shows, Eat Static issued their first few singles on their own Alien label before signing to Planet Dog, debuting with the album Abduction in 1993. The follow-up, 1994s Implant, proved so successful that Peplar and Hinton exited Ozric permanently; the Epsylon EP appeared the next year, with the Bony Incus EP surfacing in 1996. A year later the album, Science of the Gods was released on Mammoth Records. In 2001, a mixture of loungecore, exotica and their sci-fi asthetic reemerged with their album, Crash and Burn.
