by Wade KerganDJ Rectangle is known as a battle DJ — he won the U.S. DMC championship in 1993 — as well as a producer and prolific mix DJ. Since the mid-90s, Rectangle has produced a seemingly endless series of schizophrenic battle records and party-friendly mixtapes. The Los Angeles-based DJs mixes favor West Coast artists, often with exclusive tracks from well-known artists like Dr. Dre and Warren G, who has employed Rectangle as his live DJ since 2000. He has occasionally stepped into the role of producer, helming tracks for major-label acts like Funkdoobiest and Whoridas.
