DOLE is a Belgian new wave pop-rock band. Formed in 1980, DOLE was the first artist signed of the PIAS label.
Based in Athus, a small town on the border of Belgium, France and Luxembourg, DOLE gained media and public success in Europe, playing concerts in Belgium, Germany, Holland, France, Spain, Switzerland and even Morocco.
DOLE issued the 4 track 12" record SMALL TOWN in 1984, and two 7" and 12" singles in 1985: HAIRCUT (prod. Luc VAN ACKER), and RUMROAD, (prod. Adrian BORLAND, singer-guitarist of British new wave band THE SOUND).
In 1986, DOLE's first and only album THE SPEED OF HOPE (prod. Adrian BORLAND) was issued by PIAS in Belgium, Polydor in France, Nettwerk in Canada and Penguin in Greece.
The song SLUMBERLAND was also released on 7" and 12" formats at the same time.
In 1997, former DOLE members produced (with Losange asbl) a CD reissue of 14 tracks, accompanied by an 44-page illustrated booklet containing bio, pics, discography and interviews.
DOLE records are still much sought after by new wave fans and record collectors from around the world.
A new line-up is currently active as SPIRIT OF DOLE.
