Whirlaway formed in Florida in 1999. Immediately, the quartet was signed by Spy-Fi Records to release their debut EP, A Soundstream Broadcast. Entirely written, recorded and produced by the band, the disc's sonic assault on listeners translated well to record. The first single 'Sunelectric' became a modest college radio hit.
2000 began with the release of the single 'Distance', which whetted fans appetites for the release of the Whirlaway's sophomore effort, Letting Go. The band's dream pop sound continued to win over new fans and received radio airplay despite the seven-plus minute length of some of the songs.
After touring to support Letting Go, Whirlaway worked on the followup, Pompano, which was released in 2004.
Currently, and still in Florida, Adam, Mike and Steve play in the band Hello Human. Matt, now in NYC, contiunes to make music as well with the band Cymbals Eat Guitars.
