George Bullet Williams was born in Alabama, probably around 1910, either in or near Selma, although some accounts place his birth at Millport, close to the State line with Mississippi. In the late 1920's he was primarily a street performer in Jackson and Meridian, and in the 1930's he often played with Bukka White. He was described by Ishmon Bracey as "a big ugly blackskin man" who "played the harmonica through his nose" (G.D.Wardlow, Chasin' That Devil Music - see acknowledgments). According to Bukka White, Williams regularly drank shoe polish and rubbing alcohol. It has been reported that he died in the early 1940's in Alabama, or possibly went insane but neither of these reports has been confirmed.
