Guide Review - Forever Changed - 'The Need to Feel Alive'
By the time Forever Changed's debut album came out I had seen them perform live twice and I wondered if they would be as good in the studio as they were live. You know how it is - some bands are great live but don't quite cut it in the studio - coming out with flat, lackluster releases. I'm happy to say that I wasn't disappointed! These guys are just as impressive on their CD as they are in person. The release is packed with an excellent mix of musical variety and vocal professionalism. Strong choruses and Ben's technical guitar skills come together to add extra punch to already-great songs. The emotions behind the music jump out at you and pull you in with ease.
The title track, "The Need to Feel Alive," is a tune that rocks with a few musical twists and solid vocal work. "Identical" is another gem with a great message and wonderful compostion. "Knowledge," the last track on the CD, really took me by surprise and quickly became a favorite. I wasn't expecting strings and piano mixed with "emo rock"! They blended all of the elements quite well and the result was a ballad that was reminscent of Queen. This band is bringing a much needed punch to the Christian rock scene. Their debut CD is filled with songs that can stand against the competition quite well. Great music, vocals and production quietly blended to give us excellence.
