Black metal band Pestilential Shadows emerged from the cemetery crypts of New South Wales, Australia, in 2003, initiating a belligerent campaign to terrify humanity with images of death, destruction, plague, and genocide -- all via the gift of music! In all seriousness, the leather-and-studs-bound, corpse-painted musicians quickly set about putting their songs where their bloodied fangs were, establishing an inexorable, intentionally lo-fi and depressive style via 2003's Putrify EP, and follow-up albums, Embrace After Death (2005) and Cursed (2006). Throughout this time, bandmembers fell out with some regularity, killed and devoured each other (no, not really), leading to a prolonged period of silence and significant lineup changes prior to the band's third album, 2009's In Memoriam, Ill Omen. This was released by new label Pulverised Records and featured the ghoulish quintet of Balam (guitar, vocals), Desolate (aka Malaphas, guitar, vocals), Zameth (guitar, bass), Eligos (bass, guitar) and Sorrow (drums).
