Jordi Masó born in Granollers (Barcelona, Spain). He studied at the Conservatory of this town with Josep Mª Ruera and Josep Mª Roger, at the Barcelona School of Music with the pianist Albert Attenelle, and at the Royal Academy of Music of London with Christopher Elton and Nelly Akopian, graduating with the DipRAM, the highest distinction of the academy.
He won first prizes in many National and International competitions. He has performed extensively in most European countries, South America and Asia, in piano recitals and in chamber music concerts. He is regularly invited to play with the most important Spanish orchestras.
Praised by the prestigious music critic Harold Schonberg as &a skilful and strong pianist&, Jordi Masó has a huge repertoire covering all periods and styles, with special emphasis on music of 20th and 21st Centuries. He has given first performances of many piano works by the foremost Spanish living composers and has been the dedicatee of many of their piano works.
He has recorded more than forty recordings, unanimously praised. His discography includes the complete piano works of Frederic Mompou in six volumes on the Naxos label (which has sold over 60,000 copies around the world), the complete works for piano of Robert Gerhard, Joaquim Homs, José Antonio Donostia, Benet Casablancas and Xavier Montsalvatge on Naxos and Marco Polo labels, and the complete works for piano by Ricard Lamote de Grignon and Joan Massià for Anacrusi. He is currently recording the complete piano music by Joaquin Turina and Déodat Severac for Naxos. He has also recorded for Columna Música, ASV and Stradivarius, among others. In 2008 he was awarded the Associated Royal Academy of Music (ARAM), given to the Academy most distinguished students.
Since 1996 he has been a member of the contemporary music group Barcelona 216, which won the Barcelona City Prize for music in 2000. He is professor at the Granollers Conservatory and in 2002 he was appointed professor at the Esmuc (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya).
