Sharon Van Etten是美国近年来最受瞩目的新民谣女声之一，出生于纽泽西，现居纽约布鲁克林，已发表「Because I Was In Love」(2009)、「Epic」 (2010)、「Tramp」 (2012)等三张专辑，深受TV on the Radio启发，自弹自唱、吉他民谣根基扎实，歌声迴转具有穿透力，带着诗意，沉缓深情而不滥情，是很个人内省的民谣摇滚。
Sharon Van Etten曾在The Antlers深获好评的2009年首张专辑「Hospice」演唱"Thirteen"，也在The National的2011年专辑「Win Win」一起合声"Think You Can Wait"，认识独立摇滚圈许多好友。她自己的第三张专辑「Tramp」录音过程得到Beirut、Wye Oak和Walkmen成员的全力支持，可以说汇集当今美国独立民谣摇滚的精髓。首波单曲"Serpents"有Wye Oak和声，与Beirut的Zach Condon一起演唱"We Are Fine"，男女对唱更是引人注目。整张专辑由The National成员Aaron Dessner製作，合作乐手班底相当坚强。
她说这些音乐是自我治疗，疗伤止痛，一个转变与救赎的过程，人际关係特别是爱情的怀疑、孤寂和不信任，整张专辑听来幽微却又透露些许希望，像是轻量级的Cat Power，也许，许多事实远不是想像的那样，多的是误解与欺骗，还有得不到回报的爱，Sharon Van Etten美丽的音乐虽不能抚平，至少可以陪着我们一起度过。
Fans of acoustic guitar-playing female singer-songwriters are so flooded with options these days that they are in the position to be pretty discriminating. Artists such as Alela Diane, Marissa Nadler, Jana Hunter, and Mariee Sioux have issued a steady stream of quality music, and have collectively set a fairly high standard for newcomers to match. Yet on her debut full-length album, Because I Was in Love, Brooklyn’s Sharon Van Etten proves that she has the expressive voice and the songwriting chops to ably hold her own in the company of her peers.
