Julia Carin Cavazos (born November 13, 1993), known by her stage name Julia Michaels, is an American singer and songwriter from Davenport, Iowa. She began performing as a teenager and later began writing songs that were given to other high-profile artists, mostly for Selena Gomez, but also other artists such as Demi Lovato, Fifth Harmony, Hailee Steinfeld, and Gwen Stefani. Michaels signed with Republic Records, and later released her commercial debut solo single in 2017, "Issues", which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and was certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), followed by her debut extended play, Nervous System (2017). She is a 2 time Grammy nominee, and has also been nominated for a MTV Video Music Award, a Billboard Music Award, and an American Music Award.
