小简介
One of Tulsa’s bright, shining music stars, Eldredge Jackson, will premiere his brand new CD, “Listening Pleasure,” at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame in the month of May. According to Jackson, “This CD means so much to me; we’ve taken a couple of years to put it together, but believe me, this CD is one that I am very proud of and one that I believe everyone will want to make a part of their personal jazz collection.” Nationally known smooth jazz artist and fellow Tulsan Wayman Tisdale collaborated with Eldredge, producing what both men believe has captured the soul and passion of Eldredge’s saxophone playing. Inside Scoop spoke with L.A.-based Tisdale recently about the new CD and the collaboration. Tis says, “Eldredge is a tremendous talent and it was truly a great experience working with such a professional cat, and what a dynamic artist! I recommend that all of Tulsa pick this one up—it’s the real deal.”
Inside Scoop also spoke with Don Jackson, Eldredge’s manager and brother, about this new project. Jackson says, “The energy is definitely there for Eldredge and the phone has not stopped ringing because so many hear select cuts from the new CD on the new jazz station, JazzTulsa at 107.9FM, and they are requesting the new CD.” He adds, “For those who have enjoyed his performances locally, they can expect the same excitement of a ‘live’ performance on his new CD. And, actually, the CD will definitely be a keeper. It’s one that you’ll want to play over and over in your car or at home, simply sit back, relax and get your swerve on.”
Oklahoma jazz fans have been treated to the sounds of Eldredge Jackson for more than 15 years. A seasoned contemporary jazz musician, singer, songwriter and bandleader, he has been writing his own music since the age of 11, and has mastered keyboards, percussion, woodwind and string instruments. Highlights of his career include opening for the likes of the legendary Ramsey Lewis, the genius of Stanley Jordan and gospel great Helen Baylor. Jackson was the recipient of the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame’s Legacy Tribute Award for 2005. The Jazz Hall honors young, brilliant artists on the brink of major stardom and, fittingly, Jackson received this prestigious honor.
You can catch Eldredge “live” on May 5 at Lola’s downtown at Main and Brady, followed by Cherokee Casino May 11 and MayFest May 19 at Bartlett Square stage Downtown. He swings back by the Casino on May 21. The CD release party will be happenin’ during the month of May at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame—stay tuned.
