老鹰乐队（Eagles）是20世纪1970年代早期成立于美国洛杉矶的一支摇滚乐团体。拥有7张专辑与29支单曲。依RIAA统计，Eagles1976年发表的精选辑EAGLES/THEIR GREATEST HITS 为美国史上销量最高专辑，超过2900万。而在滚石排出的史上最伟大500张专辑，他们另一张专辑《加州旅馆》（Hotel California）位于第37位。1998年，老鹰乐团被迎入摇滚名人堂。乐团于1980年一度解散，而于1994年重组，发行了Hell Freezes Over，并开始在各地进行巡回演唱，依然获得了大量乐迷的支持。老鹰乐队于2007年推出全新专辑《Long Road Out Of Eden》。

乐队发展

成立之后的Eagles有几项特色，每位成员都擅长写曲，又都能胜任主唱一职，这自然在声效及合声方面技高一筹，这就是为什么Eagles能在一开始就受到许多歌迷的爱戴而一飞冲天了。Eagles的成员实力都不错，但要他们发挥的淋漓尽致，还需要一位有经验的制作人。他们找来了Glyn Johns，他是一位名唱片制作人，曾为Rolling Stone，The Who，Faces，Eric Clapton制作过唱片。1972年他把Eagles带到London，在闻名的Olympic Studio完成了第一张专辑，这是一首典型乡村风格的作品，推出发行的第一支代表作“Take it Easy”便是一个例子。该曲是Jackson Browne与Frey和写的，Browne还为Eagles写了“Nightinggale”，那也是一首相当好听的歌。Desperado是Glyn Johns在伦敦为Eagles录制的第二张专辑，虽然它的销售状况最不理想，可是它在概念上所表现出的整体性，使一帮老乐迷无不承认这张唱片的价值。仅从“Desperado”字面上看，可知整张专辑所叙述的大意：一位年仅21岁的亡命之徒误入歧途而触犯法律的故事。Dooling Dalton是剧中人物，故事发生在1880年的美国西部。

不可否认的是Eagles早期的作品稍微带了点灰色，他们常靠着各种刺激来寻求内心的平静，最常看到他们在歌曲中所引用的方式，便是在异性中寻找自我。

1974年对Eagles来说是变化最大的一年，这一年他们会到洛杉矶录制唱片。Don Felder的加入使得Eagles阵容更为强大，该团成了名副其实的"五重奏"。同年四月当On The Border推出之后，Eagles更往前迈进了一步，进入了超级乐队的行列：这张专辑为他们在格莱美奖中获得两项提名。

Don Felder与Bernie Leadon过去是佛罗里达州的同学，因为这层关系，他加入了Eagles的行列，何况Felder本身在吉他上的造诣也非比寻常，他的加入可祢补Eagles在乐器伴奏上的不足，同时也可提升Eagles创作上的素质，从此Bernie Leadon就专注于他拿手的班诺琴及节奏吉他，而主奏吉他的角色就系于Felder一个人身上了。

为了促销On The Border，Eagles参加了一系列的演唱活动，其中一场是在1974年的4月6日，与几个著名乐队共同参加的。除了Eagles是大家集中的焦点外，其它象Deep Purple，Black Sabbath，……也是备受瞩目的乐队。

1975年，Don Felder在录制On The Border的时候，仅在几首歌里担任重要的角色，但是在下一张专辑One of These Nights（《这些夜晚之一》）有精湛的表现。在这张专辑里，一首旋律极其流畅的中板歌曲《说谎的眼睛》于一九七五年获得葛莱美最佳流行歌曲奖。从这张专辑可以看出，Eagles正在向摇滚化方向发展，但也不可否认这是Eagles后期作品中，最后一张乡村气息较浓的专辑。那首非常轻快好听的中板歌曲“Lying Eyes”就是例子，这首歌得到了格莱美最佳流行歌曲奖。

正值Eagles顶峰时期，Bernie Leadon突然离去，Eagles组团之初，Bernie Leadon，Randy Meisner一直是被看好的两为台柱，“Desperado”以后，Glen Frey和Don Henley表现的愈来愈称职，逐渐成为乐队的发言人，后来Leadon因为与其它成员不睦，甚至于有被忽视的感觉，所以才会造成这种局面。

至此乐队便成为美国第一流的超级乐队，以后的每张唱片都远远超过100万张的销量。1976年乐队的一张精选唱片还未发行便有了100万张的订单。

1976年到1980年是Eagles辉煌年代，唱片叫好又叫座，获奖不计其数。

1976年，Eagles写下一个历史记录，他们的集锦专辑Greatest Hits，成了唱片史上第三张未发行就有100万张订单的专辑。

那张Hotel California专辑，在1977年一月获美国排行榜冠军一周，销售达白金唱片。这支同名单曲在二月及三月分别重回冠军宝座，而后更在四月底和五月初禅联冠军达五周之久，并同时获英国亚军。五月时，专辑同名单曲Hotel California销售百万，获美国榜冠军。

接替Leadon位置的是James Gang的吉他手Joe Walsh，由于他的加入，Eagles的乐风更加摇滚化了。Hotel California可说是Eagles在最佳状态，最佳组合之下所完成的一张旷世之作，它的销售量在80年代初就已突破1500万张。

70年代中期，Eagles发行的三张专辑都荣登排行的榜首。分别是1975年7月26日得到5周冠军的One of These Night，1976年3月。

乐队成员

老鹰合唱团前后共有七位团员，个个能演唱也都会作曲：

Don Henley（主唱、鼓、打击乐器）1947年7月22日出生于德州。老鹰合唱团发表的歌曲多有Glenn Frey和Don Henley参与的创作，Frey多半以朗朗上口唯美情歌为主，Henley就有较多的触角，不过“追求”却是他歌曲的中心，不论是理想或是爱情，在追求过程中的种种心境与体会都是Henley写歌的题材。乐团正式解散前、甚至还未推出个人专辑Henley就先跑去与Stevie Nicks对唱"Leather And Lace"。Henley 共发行四张个人专辑与一张精选。"Dirty Laundry"选自1982年首张专辑《I Can't Stand Still》，是个人作品中名次最高的单曲。两年后以《Building The Perfect Beast》里的"The Boys Of Summer"一曲得到1985年度葛莱美奖最佳摇滚男歌手。1989年《The End Of The Innocence》的商业成绩最佳，总共销售六白金。间隔十年推出的《Inside Job》包含了四周抒情冠军曲"Taking You Home"。这些记录都显示出无论商业或评价上Don Henley都是个人演唱事业最成功乐团成员。

Glenn Frey（主唱、吉他、键盘）

1948年11月6日出生于密西根州的汽车工业中心底特律。参加琳达．朗丝黛的伴奏乐团之前Frey曾和同乡J.D. Souther组成二重唱，创立老鹰合唱团后Frey还是常与Souther合写歌曲（后者在1979年也有首畅销曲"You're Only Lonely")。老鹰合唱团的特色是有著整齐优美的和声，这些和声编排大多是Frey的功劳（尤其是乐团成立初期），因此团员们给了他一个外号叫“The Lone Arranger”（西部片和卡通《独行侠》的谐音）。1982年乐团解散后成员纷纷单飞，其中以Henley与Frey最受关切。Frey推出过四张专辑《No Fun Aloud》、《The Allnighter》、《Soul Searching》、《Strange Weather》加上一张精选、一张现场实况。虽然专辑成绩、评价略逊于Don Henley，但是他唱的几首单曲却让人津津乐道："The One You Love"是走红大街小巷的不朽情歌（尤其在台湾）；两首亚军曲"The Heat Is On"、"Smuggler's Blues"分别是电影《比佛利山超级警探》和电视影集《迈阿密天龙》的插曲。Frey参与过影集《英雄本色》一个单元的演出，还有在电影《抢救人质》、《征服情海》客串。

Joe Walsh（吉他、合成乐器）

1947年11月20日出生于肯萨斯州。1969年加入摇滚团James Gang，1975年12月加入老鹰合唱团，是最先发行个人专辑与拥有畅销单曲的团员。1973年Bill Szymczyk就是靠Walsh的推荐才接替原制作人Glyn Johns。Walsh刚加入时，Szymczyk还曾替他担心会影响个人演唱生涯，结果证明Walsh不仅为乐团注入了摇滚的新生命，同时Walsh个人发展亦相得益彰。1978年的专辑《But Seriously,Folks…》、单曲"Life's Been Good"电影《都市牛郎》插曲"All Night Long"都是个人代表作，老鹰合唱团解散期间Walsh仍然有新作陆续推出。

Timothy B. Schmit(贝斯)

1947年10月30日出生，是成立于加州的老鹰合唱团中唯一的加州人。1970年Schmit加入Poco合唱团替补Meisner留下的贝斯手空缺并且直到1977年9月加入老鹰合唱团才离开Poco，1984年重新归队。Schmit歌声属轻柔的高音，和低沈的贝斯恰成反比，所以有人戏称他是“Sing High,Play Low”。Schmit个人演唱专辑始自1984年，老歌新唱单曲"So Much In Love"是电影《开放的美国学府》中的插曲，1994年节奏蓝调团All-4-One再度唱红。Schmidt在1992年曾一度加入披头四鼓手Ringo Starr号召的All-Starr Band。其他乐团成员的个人专辑中也常见到Schmit的跨刀。

Bernie Leadon（吉他、曼陀铃、班卓琴)1975 年离队

1947年7月19日出生于明尼苏达州的明尼亚波利市。1969年开始是乡村摇滚团Flying Burrito Bros.里的一员。是老鹰合唱团第一任吉他手，《One Of These Nights》专辑之后，因为兴趣较偏乡村与乐团日益明显的摇滚走向不合，1975年12月离团后组成短暂的The Bernie Leadon/Michael Georgiades Band，后来几年都是伴奏乐手，1987-89年加入乡村民谣摇滚团Nitty Gritty Dirt Band。Leadon是所有团员中唯一没有发行过畅销个人专辑的一位。

Randy Meisner（贝斯）1977 年离队

1946年3月8日出生于Nebraska州。1968-69年间是乡村摇滚团Poco的创始团员，1989年再度加入。曾一度加入五○年代偶像歌手Ricky Nelson的伴奏乐团。是老鹰合唱团第一任贝斯手，《Hotel California》专辑发行后，于1977年9月离开追求个人演唱生涯。Meisner个人专辑不少，甚至到21世纪都持续发行新作，其中以1980年的《One More Song》最受欢迎，这张CD已绝版，不少音乐爱好者还在网路上徵求二手货且有卖方要价50美金，不过尚未成交。

Don Felder（吉他、键盘）2001年离队

1947年9月21日出生于佛罗里达州。1968年时加入过Flow合唱团，但主要还是伴奏乐手也从事录音工程。由于Leadon的介绍，Felder从老鹰合唱团的首张专辑开始便有参与，可是当时只是乐团巡回演唱期间的临时团员，1974年才正式加入成为第五位团员。Don Felder虽然和声、吉他独奏多有贡献但在站在台前的总是Leadon与Walsh；虽然也与其他团员合写很多歌曲，不过锋芒却又都被Frey和Henley所掩盖，所以他应该是乐团中最被忽略的一位。Felder虽然也有个人专辑出版，但是最著名的作品首推为1981年动画电影《Heavy Metal》谱写、演唱的同名单曲。Felder在乐团解散期间（1982-1994，虽然Don Henley宣称他们“是休息，而非解散”）大都为一些知名艺人如比吉斯合唱团、Stevie Nicks、Bob Seger、黛安娜．罗斯…的专辑担任吉他伴奏。

2004年墨尔本演唱会的Don Felder空缺由非老鹰乐队成员代替演奏。

2016年，主唱Frey在华盛顿去世，享年67岁。2月，在第58届格莱美颁奖典礼上，成员演唱“Take It Easy”缅怀Frey。

The Eagles were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1971 by Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner. With five number-one singles, six Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, and six number one albums, the Eagles were one of the most successful musical acts of the 1970s. At the end of the 20th century, two of their albums, Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and Hotel California, were ranked among the 20 best-selling albums in the United States according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Hotel California is ranked 37th in Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time" and the band was ranked number 75 on the magazine's 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

The Eagles are one of the world's best-selling bands of all time, having sold more than 150 million records—100 million in the U.S. alone—including 42 million copies of Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) and 32 million copies of Hotel California. "Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)" was the best selling album of the 20th century in the U.S.They are the fifth-highest-selling music act and the highest-selling American band in U.S. history.

The Eagles released their self-titled debut album in 1972, which spawned three top 40 singles: "Take It Easy", "Witchy Woman", and "Peaceful Easy Feeling". Their next album, Desperado (1973), was less successful than the first, only reaching number 41 on the charts; neither of its singles reached the top 40. However, the album contained two of the band's most popular tracks: "Desperado" and "Tequila Sunrise". They released On the Border in 1974, adding guitarist Don Felder as its fifth member midway through the recording of the album. The album generated two top 40 singles: "Already Gone" and their first number one, "Best of My Love".

Their 1975 album One of These Nights included three top 10 singles: "One of These Nights", "Lyin' Eyes", and "Take It to the Limit", the first hitting the top of the charts. The Eagles continued that success and hit their commercial peak in late 1976 with the release of Hotel California, which would go on to sell more than 16 million copies in the U.S. alone and more than 32 million copies worldwide. The album yielded two number-one singles, "New Kid in Town" and "Hotel California". They released their last studio album for nearly 28 years in 1979 with The Long Run, which spawned three top 10 singles: "Heartache Tonight", "The Long Run", and "I Can't Tell You Why", the lead single being another chart-topping hit.

The Eagles disbanded in July 1980 but reunited in 1994 for the album Hell Freezes Over, a mix of live and new studio tracks. They toured consistently and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. In 2007, the Eagles released Long Road Out of Eden, their first full studio album in 28 years and their sixth number one album. The next year they launched the Long Road Out of Eden Tour in support of the album. In 2013, they began the extended History of the Eagles Tour in conjunction with the band's documentary release, History of the Eagles.

In March 2016, following the death of Frey and a tribute performance at the Grammy Awards, Henley told the BBC that the performance was a "final farewell". In an interview with Rolling Stone on June 10, 2016, Henley confirmed the dissolution of the band.

On January 18, 2016, Frey died in the Washington Heights section of New York City at the age of 67. According to the band's website, the causes of his death were rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia while recovering from intestinal surgery.

At the 58th Annual Grammy Awards in February, the Eagles, joined by Leadon, touring guitarist Steuart Smith, and co-writer Jackson Browne, performed "Take It Easy" in honor of Frey.On March 6, 2016, in an interview with BBC News, Henley described the Grammy tribute as the band's final farewell and said "I don't think you'll see us performing again."

Henley was interviewed by Rolling Stone about the entire Eagles catalogue on June 10, 2016.
