by Bruce EderThe Richmond Group never made it outside the confines of Liverpool, but within the confines of that citys second wave of new acts, post-Beatles in 1963-64, they were among the more exciting stage acts. The band-vocalists Dave Kerrigan and Eddie Cave (whod previously fronted a Liverpool band called The Fyx), lead guitarist Barry David, rhythm guitarist Barry Wheldon, bassist Howie Jones, and drummer Pete Taylor-were mostly in their mid-teens and, apparently inspired by the Beatles, also wrote original material, principally from Kerrigan, Cave, and David. They also performed r&b like their lives depended on it, doing tense, lively renditions of Bo Diddley-style numbers with special aplomb.
