by Andy KellmanGerman producers Christopher Bleckmann and Hannes Wenner began releasing material as Niederflur in 2001 with a trio of minimal techno EPs on Richie Hawtin's M_nus label. Named after the vehicle that is used to travel through the U-Bahn, the subway system that runs through their home base of Cologne, the two producers incorporated the ambient sounds created by it -- including voices from the PA system -- into their crisp, hypnotic compositions. In 2002, M_nus issued ND4, a CD compilation of the duo's 2001 releases. Bleckmann and Wenner have also operated as Clubsessel (for the K20 label) and as Misc. (for Force Tracks).
