艺人介绍

by David JeffriesWhen Afro-Celt Sound System founder Simon Emmerson was asked by journalist/DJ/producer Phil Meadley to do a remix, the worldbeat DJ team the Outernationalists was born. Before the Afro-Celts, Emmerson had worked as a DJ and in various sound systems, and by 2003 he felt it was time to try his hand at it again. Meadley made a name for himself writing for Urb and Wax Magazine and compiling the Asian Chill and Indestructible Arabian Beats CDs for Manteca. While producing a compilation that would benefit the Bushmen of the Kalahari, Meadley turned to Emmerson for a remix and a friendship started. Weighing their mutual admiration of global beat culture and Coldcut's Journeys By DJ, plus the fact both were looking to DJ, they decided to form their own sound system, the Outernationalists. With the help of Afro-Celts Martin Russell and Mass, the duo recorded their debut mix, Ethnomixicology, released by Six Degrees in early 2004.
