by Evan C. GutierrezTeen flamenco sensation Tati Roman has a voice beyond her years. Born in Granada in 1991, Roman began singing and performing on a professional level by the age of six. Her public debut was made at El Dia de Andalucia in El Teatro Manuel de Falla de Granada. Accompanied only by a guitar, the world of flamenco was introduced to the voice that would grip it a short ten years later. The young talent was befriended by the flamenco great Parrita in her early teen years, and would go on to become her mentor and patron. Parrita introduced Roman to the world audience at his concert in Palau de la Musica de Barcelona, a concert dedicated to the recently deceased Antonio Humanes. In her debut disc, Tati performs ten songs written and produced by her patron, Parrita. Como la Mar y la Arena was released in June of 2006. Though not yet internationally recognized, through numerous performances in important venues Roman has earned a reputation as an artist to match in her native Spain. Como la Mar's strong presence on national charts boded well for this young Granadina.
