by Eduardo RivadaviaNot to be confused with the better-known Alcatrazz with a "C" featuring Graham Bonnett and Yngwie Malmsteen, Maidstone, England's Alkatrazz with a "K" were formed in 1980 by Australian singer Craig Stevens, guitarist Bob Jenner, bassist Gary Bevan, and drummer Nick Parsons. Impulsively signed by RCA amidst the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scouting craze, the quartet quickly fell flat with two nondescript hard rock albums: 1981's Young Blood and 1982's Radio 5. However, they would enjoy some positive exposure while touring with Magnum and Tygers of Pan Tang, and even briefly featured onetime Iron Maiden drummer Clive Burr before going their separate ways.
