Formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2006, six-piece fight-pop hardcore outfit Dananananakroyd rapidly got a reputation for their fierce and brutal live performances. From the first concerts the band's surefire, energetic shows drew comparisons to the likes of At the Drive-In at their peak. No less than two drummers deliver stunningly fast and tight rhythms while the guitar riffs are no slower, but cutting and distorted blasts of fury beyond recognition.

Dananananakroyd started life in January of 2006 when members James Hamilton (drums) and David Roy (guitar)'s former band Multiplies disbanded. From their friends they culled together the six-piece Dananananakroyd lineup to alter the archetypical Glaswegian band image of art school types like Belle & Sebastian or Franz Ferdinand. Drawing inspiration from the Fall, Black Flag, Pavement, and Sonic Youth, these young contenders soon found themselves drawing massive interest with their very peculiar and heavy brand of fight-pop -- an antidote to everything posed, packaged, and poised in the current world of indie rock.

In late 2006, Giles Bailey quit as Dananananakroyd's vocalist. Calum Gunn moved from drums to vocals, and John Baillie Junior took over the drum stool. Debut single "Totally Bone" was released through Moshi Moshi in 2006, to be followed by "Some Dresses" on Jealous Records later the same year. Due to problems at their record company the first proper EP Sissy Hits was pushed back and was released by Dananananakroyd's new label Holy Roar in April 2008.
