Bassiona Amorosa are a multiple award-winning international double bass ensemble who were founded in 1996 and have received such honours as the European Quartet Prize 2003 and the Bach-Plauqe in 2004.
Comprised of young award-winning musicians renowned for their exciting, ever-changing and audience-engaging performances, Bassiona Amorosa regularly perform throughout Europe and America. Their repertoire ranges from early Renaissance, Baroque and classical period compositions to rearrangements of light music.
In the 15 years since their formation, Bassiona Amorosa have performed in excess of 5000 live concerts, published 14 CDs and been the subject of 3 short films by the Bavarian television station and WDR (West German Broadcasting Company). Notably, their third tour of the USA in June 2003 received a sensational reception from the audience with an extended standing ovation.
Bassiona Amorosa are comprised of master class students of Professor Trumpf, who leads the ensemble, from the State Conservatory of Music in Munich. Their home countries include Slovakia, Russia, the Czech Republic, White Russia, Yugoslavia, Georgia and Ukraine.
Bassiona Amorosa are best known for their combined, flawless command and technique, unmistakable musicality, for the refinement of their sound and the interesting and particularly engaging arrangements put together by Professor Trumpf.
