by Stewart MasonOriginally a solo project for singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Carson Slovak, Lancaster, PA, grindcore act Century has since become a full-fledged band. (In addition to his musical endeavors, Carson Slovak is also a full-time graphic designer who personally designs all of Century's artwork and merchandise.) Slovak, formerly guitarist with alt-metal act Armsbendback, recorded Century's self-titled debut EP entirely on his own, but after leaving Armsbendback, he turned Century into a full-time band project. Guitarist Mike Giuliano, bassist Joshua Groah, and drummer Grant McFarland recorded Century's full-length debut, 2006's Faith and Failure. Before the album's release, McFarland was replaced by new drummer Matthew Smith, not to be confused with the similarly named leader of Detroit's Outrageous Cherry.
