by Richie UnterbergerFrom Long Island, NY, the Sting Rays were one of the poppier mid-'60s garage bands that came to light as the mid-'80s garage reissue scene took archivism to its extremes. It's uncertain whether they ever released anything, but the Cicadelic label found a live tape that it deemed suitable to enshrine on one side of a reissue LP. Consisting mostly of original material, it's decent, if quite fey, stuff in a light British Invasion mode, heavy on the Beatlesque harmonies.
