by Gregory McIntoshFrench guitarist Sébastien Martel began playing music at the age of 17 by picking out melodies from the radio and his record collection and learning them on the guitar, eventually becoming a proficient player with a strong interest in American blues, folk, and rock. His method of proficiently integrating these styles with French pop has led to collaborations with several musicians, including DJ Medhi, Sinclair, Alain Chamfort, and others. Martel performed with groups such as Vercoquin and Olympic Gramophon, then later with his brother, Nicolas Martel, in the Latin-tinged group Las Ondas Marteles before pursuing a solo career with the release of his debut, Ragalet, in 2003.
