by Andy KellmanNew York transplants Mark Ingram (aka Desmond/Spaced Out Kid Humanoid) and Vanessa Josti-Crossover (aka Verona/Darling-Starchild) formed the duo Crossover, a fun-loving electro-pop outfit, in 1998. Drenched in their influences (synth pop, disco, electro, old school rap) and not ashamed to share their love for storytelling of the mystical variety, Crossover made their full-length debut on International Deejay Gigolos in early 2002 with Fantasmo. Somewhat different from the clinical productions and detached vocal stylings of labelmate Miss Kitten, Fantasmo featured lower-fi productions with buoyant vocals. Codek picked up the record for distribution in the States, shortly after its initial release.
