by Johnny LoftusForgotten Boys play trashy punk in the tradition of the Dead Boys and Ramones, infusing that classic pulse with the amplified thrill of contemporary garage. Gustavo Riviera (vocals/guitar) and Arthur Franquini (drums) started the band in 1997 in their hometown of São Paulo, Brazil; their three-song debut included a cover of the Choir's 1967 gem "It's Cold Outside." A second demo recording appeared in 1998 and was well received locally. Bassist Chuck Hipolito was on board for Forgotten Boys' self-titled full-length, released in 2000 on the respected Brazilian punk imprint Ataque Frontal, and when Franquini departed the group a year later, Hipolito doubled on the drums. A split CD with Argentina's Killer Dolls came next, and drummer Flavio Cavichioli joined the Boys in time for the two bands' Brazilian tour. Forgotten Boys' sophomore LP, Gimme More, appeared from 13 Records in late 2002. It highlighted their increased songwriting chops, and caused a stir in the Brazilian rock scene. A year later they signed with Ann Arbor, MI-based No Fun to release the album in America. When Gimme More (And More) arrived in 2004, it included the songs from the Killer Dolls split as bonus tracks. In the meantime Fralda Wilson had joined Forgotten Boys on bass (with Hipolito moving to rhythm guitar), and the band's split record with Uruguayan sleaze punks Motosierra was issued by 13.
