by Sean WestergaardAfter his short-lived Mourning Widows project, Nuno Bettencourt formed the recording entity Population 1. Playing all the instruments himself (as he had done on the Schizophonic album), Population 1 was released in 2002 on Universal Japan. Wanting to support the album with a tour, he created Population 1, the band, with Steve Ferlazzo on keyboards, Joe Pessia on bass, and Kevin Figueiredo on drums. The band toured Japan and Korea in 2003, and released the Sessions from Room 4 EP in 2004. Another full-length is expected in early 2005.
