Brothers Gary and Dwayne Dassing formed the electronic/industrial group Mentallo & the Fixer in the late 80s after time spent in Benestrophe. Based in Austin, TX, the brothers released No Rest for the Wicked in 1992 on Simbiose Records, but later signed to Germanys influential Zoth Ommog label. After releasing Revelations 23, Mentallo & the Fixer found an American home in Metropolis Records. One of the labels initial releases, a re-release of Revelations 23 was followed by Where Angels Fear to Tread and Continuum that same year. In 1997, the brothers Dassing recorded their fifth album, Burnt Beyond Recognition; it would be their last proper Mentallo & the Fixer release together, as Dwayne departed the group. Gary continued as the sole member of Mentallo & the Fixer, releasing Algorythum in 1999; Love Is the Law appeared a year later; Return to Grimpen Ward was issued in early 2001.
