艺人介绍

by Evan C. GutierrezBorn on September 13, 1979, Lidia Avila lived her first three years of childhood in Chihuahua, Mexico, with her parents and six brothers. All being musically and artistically inclined, the Avila family soon relocated to the city, seeking better opportunities for the children, who regularly sang and danced together for local or family celebrations. At the age of eight, Lidia began her formal study of music, having taken an interest in jazz and pop vocal techniques. Her studies paid off two years later when she was given an opportunity to audition for Mexican youth pop group La Onda Vaselina, a band that earned considerable recognition and garnered Avila all the visibility she could want at such a young age. La Onda Vaselina recorded six records together before disbanding after their final release in 2000. Thanks to her pop culture accessibility, she was able to segue into some light acting work, appearing on the telenovela Clap, among others. Though her acting career didn't take off in a serious way, she remained in the public eye, which eventually led to her signing with Sony International and the release of her self-titled debut solo record. Still very much in keeping with her pop sensibilities and reputation, but with elements of her more musically traditional upbringing, the record was only marginally successful. Her subsequent 2005 release with the very powerful Fonovisa label, Así Como Me Ves, offered a similar mix of influences, and achieved slightly better visibility in the music marketplace. Todo Tiene Color followed in 2007.
