Roughage was formed by Zev Asher in Montreal in 1988 as a multiple media performance and recording collective. Working with a revolving group of filmmakers and musicians, Roughage has performed across Canada, the U.S., Europe and Japan. Roughage also appears on a number of international compilation CD's, LP's and cassettes.
Zev Asher (May 9, 1963 – August 7, 2013) was a Montreal-born filmmaker and musician. He has performed extensively in North America, Europe and Japan with the avant-rock band Nimrod and improvisational project, Roughage. Both Nimrod and Roughage appear on a number of recordings released on labels in Canada, the U.S., Japan, France, Croatia and Russia.
