by Corey AparPhiladelphia's The PoPo boast that they are the inventors of "post-hip hop"; if that means fusing lo-fi post-punk, simple electronics, and occasional world music flairs (influenced by the band's Middle Eastern roots) with a sort of duel talk/singing attack -- then OK. Comprised of Pops Ghostly, Fullscreen, Blue Bishi and Hamstar, the quartet signed with Buddyhead Records in August 2006. Shortly after performing at the label's CMJ showcase that October, the PoPo issued their self-titled debut, which was written and recorded in "The Zombie Cave" (aka the band's basement).
