Rajesh Roshan (born Rajesh Roshan Lal Nagrath 24 May 1955 in Bombay, Maharashtra, India) is a Hindi cinema music composer.

Rajesh Roshan is the son of Hindi film composer Roshan and younger brother of film director and actor Rakesh Roshan. He is also uncle to actor Hrithik Roshan, in whose films he composes many songs (Eg: Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000), Koi Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006), Kites (2010)).

Rajesh Roshan had a successful association with Basu Chatterjee, Dev Anand, Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar. He shot to fame with the score for Julie for which he won the Filmfare Best Music Director Award.[3].The first break for him was given by Mehmood. He is the first music director who made Amitabh Bachchan to sing. He usually composes music for the films that his brother Rakesh Roshan either produced or directed, such as Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (2000), Koi... Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006) and Kites (2010). He also composed the song "Jaane Tamanna" for the internationally acclaimed film Valley of Flowers (2006) by Pan Nalin.

Rajesh Roshan scored well in the big break given by Mehmood for Kunwara Baap (1974) and then by Dev Anand in three back to back hit films: Des Pardes, Man Pasand, and Lootmaar. Then he composed melodious tunes and made Kishore Kumar sing them in films like Doosra Aadmi, Muqaddar, Swami, Khatta Meetha, Yehi Hai Zindagi, Ek Hi Raasta, Swarg Narak, Khuddar, Inkaar, Do Aur Do Panch followed by films with Rajesh Khanna like Nishaan, Babu and Aakhir Kyon?. However, since 1985 he has composed songs only for his brother's films. His hit song filmed on Helen, i.e. "Mungda...Mungada..." is still a landmark in cabre songs in Bollywood. His another hits in khuddar i.e. "Mach gaya shor sari nagari re..." being played regularly on the day of krishna Janmashtami. The song from the same film, "Angreji me kahate hai ke I Love you", is one of the popular hit duets of Kishore Lata. In his brother's Kaamchor the song "Tumse badhkar is duniya me" is till remembered as the marvellous one. In the film Yarana, the song "Sara jamana" was the great hit of its time.

In the 1990s, when even Laxmikant-Pyarelal and Bappi Lahiri gradually lost their bearings, Rajesh has endured through films like Jurm and Bahaar Aane Tak (1990) — and after another dull phase, Karan Arjun and Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995), Papa Kahte Hain (1996), Koyla (1997), Laawaris, Daag, Kaun Sachaa Kaun Jhootha and Dastak (1996), and Dandnayak and Main Solah Baras Ki (1998).

Rajesh Roshan delivered several hit music scores pairing with his brother Rakesh, who had emerged as a director of great stature. The two worked on films like Kishan Kanhaiya, King Uncle, Karan Arjun, and Koyla. Rajesh scored the music for "Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai", the launch vehicle of Hrithik Roshan, and one of his brother's most ambitious projects. The film achieved significant success. The composer also won the FilmFare Award for Best Music.[3] He has composed the music of several Hrthik-starring, Rakesh Roshan-directed films, such as Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish, and Kites.
